Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Beachaven Vineyards & Winery

Clarksvillenow.com and 5 Star Media will host a Blackout at Beachaven Vineyards & Winery August 21, 2017.

That’s the day, a total Solar Eclipse moves through Clarksville and you can experience it with hundreds of others, during a daylong event at this award winning winery.

Though the actual eclipse will only last around two minutes, the fun will go all day with live music, food trucks, games, and of course wine.

General admission tickets for the viewing party are $40, which includes free parking, a 15 x 15 space and 4 pairs of viewing glasses. The VIP packages are SOLD OUT.

Additional wine and shirts will be available for purchase on a first come, first served basis.

Due to the hazards of looking directly at the sun during the eclipse, specialty viewing glasses are recommended at all times. This is most important for children (Additional glasses will be available for purchase.)

Viewing Event at Liberty Park

The City of Clarksville will host an eclipse viewing event at Liberty Park where spots will be on a first come, first served basis.

A guest speaker from Austin Peay State University will make a presentation before the eclipse and there will be refreshments available from several food trucks.

Admission is free. Protective eyewear is required.

Experience total solar eclipse at APSU’s Fortera Stadium

Austin Peay’s Fortera Stadium will open to the public at 11:30 a.m. that day for the public to view the eclipse. The cost is $5 to park, with each vehicle receiving a free pair of viewing glasses.

The stadium’s scoreboard will display a live feed from the APSU observatory. Members of APSU’s Department of Physics and Astronomy will provide scientific and historical information about the phenomenon. Attendees can watch the event on the scoreboard and through telescopes set up with the solar protection.

Eclipse in Hopkinsville/Christian County

Hopkinsville, which has rebranded itself as Eclipseville has many events planned. Being at the epicenter, the city is offering assistance to groups of 50 or more.  As a community, Eclipseville is planning over 20 festivals and events that will take place Eclipse weekend, leading up to the event itself on that second-to-last Monday in August. As the designated Point of Greatest Eclipse, Hopkinsville is designated by NASA as the point where the moon’s axis is closest to the earth, which makes us especially appealing to astronomy enthusiasts around the world.

Solar Eclipse at Hopkinsville Community College (720 North Drive Hopkinsville)

Hopkinsville Community College will be open on eclipse day from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lawn viewing area sold by the vehicle-load. Groups from educational organizations attending in buses can reserve space for $150. Contact jeff.horton@kctcs.edu

Burdoc Farms is located only a few miles from the point of longest totality when viewing the solar eclipse.

MB Roland Distillery hosting Bourbon Eclipse Experience

MB Roland Distillery is hosting their Bourbon Eclipse Experience, August 18-21 at 137 Barkers Mill Rd. in Pembroke, Kentucky.

Hopkinsville spots available for viewing eclipse

The City of Hopkinsville has sold out 400 spots available at its second viewing location at Ruff Park, at 733 North Drive. City officials have announced that the next viewing location that will be open is Tie Breaker Park, 9503 Eagle Way.

Tie Breaker Park will accommodate 400-500 reservations and the spots will be available on a first-come first-serve method with approximately 100 reservations sold per field. The City of Hopkinsville will announce the next viewing location when Tie Breaker Park is filled

Each city designated viewing location will have access to portable restroom facilities, food vendors, and an unobstructed view of the sky for $30. Additionally, each reservation will receive one parking pass for the lot adjacent to their viewing location.

All viewing locations will be open at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21 and will be staffed with first aid stations, law enforcement and city representatives.

NASA Astronaut PeayClipse celebration

Dr. Rhea Seddon will deliver a free talk on her experience as one of NASA’s first female astronauts at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, the day before the Total Solar Eclipse, at the Dun Center on Austin Peay State University.

An hour before the talk, at 6 p.m., Seddon will sign copies of her book, “Go for Orbit.”

The lecture and book signing are part of the University’s PeayClipse celebration, commemorating the historic solar eclipse. For information on her talk or additional APSU PeayClipse events, visit

Clarksville Regional Airport holding Solar Eclipse event

The Clarksville Regional Airport is hosting the public and fly-in traffic for the historic solar eclipse on Monday, August 21.

Food trucks will be on site selling food, drinks and desserts. There is a paved lot and grassy area available for parking. Those attending should secure their own viewing glasses and are welcome to bring coolers, blankets or tents for shade and are responsible for removing their own trash.

Port Royal State Historic Site Great Solar Eclipse

The Great Solar Eclipse event will be held Monday August 21, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Free solar Eclipse glasses will be available.

There will be ranger-led programs throughout the day as well as kid’s activities. Totality occurs at 1:25pm, but activities will continue into the afternoon.

Events and viewing spots at Land Between the Lakes

The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in western Kentucky is offering prime viewing spots for the upcoming total solar eclipse next month.

The park is planning a series of programs to educate about the eclipse scheduled to happen on Aug. 21. “Sun and Moon Days” will go from Aug. 16 to 23.

Park officials say the duration of the eclipse at a spot near Eggner’s Ferry Bridge will be two minutes. Eye protection, free parking and food vendors will be at the bridge location.

The Golden Pond Planetarium and Observatory will host an eclipse party on Aug. 19 and solar viewing the next two days. The Homeplace 1850s Working Farm and the Woodlands Nature Station will offer related activities.

Roxy Regional Theatre supporters to host ECLIPSE PARTY!

ECLIPSE PARTY! will be hosted at the home of longtime supporters Dr. John and Cathy Stanton. The event takes place at 1550 Hazelwood Road (approximately 0.8 miles off Trenton Road on the left) and runs from 11:30am to 3:00pm on Monday, August 21.

Food is provided and Old Glory Distillery Vodka will be available at special Bloody Mary Bar. Musical entertainment will be provided by Murph & The Starliters.

Solar eclipse glasses will be provided to ensure safe viewing. Telescopes and binoculars with solar filters will also be available for those who desire a closer look.

Tickets to the ECLIPSE PARTY! are $50 and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931) 645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to performances). Reservation deadline is August 5.

Roxy Regional Theare pre- eclipse events

• To kick off the event and offer insight into this spectacle in the sky, Dr. John Stanton will be holding a pre-eclipse talk at the Roxy Regional Theatre (100 Franklin Street) on Sunday, August 20, at 6:00pm. The lecture is included as part of the ticket cost for the ECLIPSE PARTY!

• Steven Spielberg’s classic sci-fi tale about ordinary people and their extraordinary meetings with extraterrestrials, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, will be shown on Sunday, August 20, at 2:00pm.

• A special evening screening of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey will cap off the solar eclipse festivities on Monday, August 21, at 6:00pm.

• Tickets for each of the films are $5 (cash or check only) and will go on sale at the Roxy Regional Theatre box office on August 13.

Old Glory Distilling Company hosts All-American Total Solar Eclipse Party

Tennessee Crafted Spirits, Joel Brown Band and Food Trucks

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. The moon will begin to eclipse the sun at 11:57 a.m., and the total solar eclipse is expected to occur in Clarksville at 1:26 p.m.

The party provides attendees with the option to rent a private 15’ x 15’ VIP Lawn Space; sufficient in size to comfortably seat four. Multiple spaces can be reserved together for larger groups. Included with each reservation will be one special recipe limited edition bottle of Solar Shine, one commemorative All-American Total Solar Eclipse tee-shirt, one parking pass, four pairs of solar eclipse viewing glasses, and four drink special wristbands for attendees (age 21 and up).

Outside alcohol is prohibited. Coolers may be brought to the event but are subject to inspection. The VIP Lawn Space is $75 and available for purchase at at the distillery or through Eventbrite.com.
