Johnny Cash was arrested crossing the Mexican border into El Paso, Texas after customs officials found 100’s of pills in his guitar case. He received a suspended jail sentence and a $1,000 fine.

 

1975
Willie Nelson was at #1 on the Country singles chart with “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”. Written by songwriter Fred Rose and originally performed by Roy Acuff, the song taken from his 1975 album Red Headed Stranger became Nelson’s first #1 hit as a singer.
