Cindy Frey, the widow of Eagles’ co-lead singer and guitarist Glenn Frey, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Frey is accusing the hospital and gastroenterologist Steven Itzkowitz of negligence in their treatment of her husband for colitis and their diagnosis and treatment of an infection, according to Reuters News Agency. She is also questioning their advice of the risks and side effects from treatment of the illnesses.
In the court documents, Frey claims that as a result, “Glenn Frey was rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled, plus suffered pain and mental anguish” in the period of time before his death on January 18, 2016.
The singer died from complications from acute ulcerative colitis, pneumonia and rheumatoid arthritis, according a statement from the Eagles at the time of his death.
The lawsuit asks for unspecified damages for Cindy Frey, who has three children with Glenn Frey. She oversees the entertainer’s estate.
