Reba had the role of a lifetime…but had to pull out at the last second

Some of you may not have known this, but Reba was all set to play Molly Brown in “Titanic” . . . but then had to pull out because of a scheduling issue. The role went to Kathy Bates instead.

Well, on “Watch What Happens Live” Reba talked about why that happened. Quote, “We were on tour and I had a lot of people on the payroll and we had these three months already scheduled to do the movie.

“And then they got behind on scheduling and said, ‘No, we’re going to have to move it in this time.’ [But] we couldn’t reschedule all the arenas and everything.”

Nobody knew the movie would be that huge, but it wouldn’t have mattered because she said it was more important to take care of her people. (She talks about it at 2:18 in the video.)

Ironically, Reba almost had a second chance to play Molly Brown, this time in a Broadway musical, but it didn’t happen. She and Kathy Bates did work together. Kinda. They both voiced characters in the 2006 version of “Charlotte’s Web”.
