Earl Thomas Conley, a popular country singer-songwriter in the 1980s, has died. He was 77 years old.
Conley’s brother, Fred Conley, confirms to the Tennessean that the singer died at 12:20AM on Wednesday in Nashville. Conley had been in hospice care for several months and was suffering from a condition similar to dementia.
“He just kept losing ground,” Fred Conley said. “I’m brokenhearted.”
Mr. Conley was a big influence on many of today’s country artists. Blake Shelton tweeted that his heart was “absolutely destroyed” when he heard the news about Conley’s passing.
Conley was the singer of famous country hits such as “Holding Her and Loving You,” “What I’d Say,” and “Right From The Start”.
