CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The Clarksville-Montgomery County Driver Services Center is scheduled to reopen after being closed for more than a week due to illness and personnel shortage.
On Tuesday, July 21, Wesley Moster, director of Communications for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, announced the center would reopen on Wednesday, July 22 and will resume their normal business hours of 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
On Monday, July 13, a sign was posted on the door of the building that read: “Due to circumstances beyond our control the Clarksville Drivers Center will be closed on Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14 and reopen Wednesday, July 15.”

However, Moster said the center could not reopen as expected and patrons were directed to visit other Driver Services Centers in surrounding counties and utilize online services.
“The Clarksville Driver Services Center is closed due to a shortage of personnel due to health reasons,” Moster previously said. “The Center will not reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) as originally planned. A reopening date will be announced when a date has been decided.”
Due to HIIPA laws, Moster could not say whether personnel had COVID-19.
On Friday, a small protest was held in the parking lot about voter suppression and and a line had formed at the door although the center remained closed.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Driver Services Center is located at 220 W. Dunbar Cave Road.
