FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After years of planning and fundraising, Fort Campbell finally broke ground on the $40 million Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum, set to open late next year. The museum will include a significant amount of Army equipment and exhibitions relating to the idea of vertical envelopment.

On Thursday, June 27, community leaders, elected officials and guests gathered for the groundbreaking event.

“The Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum will be a much-needed center piece to consolidate and connect the history, specifically the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and the 5th Special Forces Group, all in one location for all to see and to honor,” said Major General Brett Sylvia.

The Museum is located on a 33-acre site near the intersection of Tiny Town Road and Fort Campbell Boulevard. While the new museum is technically on post, it was placed outside the military gates, making the building more accessible without the need for on-post access, which is required at the current museum.

Admission will be free and is expected to be particularly popular with bus tours, military reunions and as an educational resource for visitors of all ages.

“What you’re going to see next summer is a phenomenal, 40,000-square-foot world-class museum where the history of these great units has come alive. It will elevate honor and inspire,” stated Brian Winski, President and CEO of the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation.
